Steps to Become a Certified Light House Volunteer
STEP 1: Watch our Volunteer Orientation Video (above)
STEP 2: Complete our Volunteer Application
STEP 3: Complete a Background Check
*If you have already completed a background check for other reasons, please contact volunteers@annapolislighthouse.org.
Once the above steps are complete you will receive a welcome email from Our Volunteer Information Center (VIC) inviting you to begin scheduling your shifts!
Before starting this process, please keep in mind the following:
- You must complete all steps and be approved before signing up for a volunteer shift.
- We do not accept court referred volunteers.
- If you are volunteering with a group, only the group leader is required to complete our Certified Light House Volunteer process but we encourage others to watch our Volunteer Orientation Video.
- For the safety of our shelter staff, clients, and our volunteers, on-site volunteer positions require a background check.
- You must be 18 years or older to fill out our volunteer application, become a Certified Light House Volunteer, sign-up for shifts, and volunteer as an individual on-site. Youth volunteers ages 11-17 who would like to volunteer on-site must at all times be accompanied by an adult who has completed our Certified Light House Volunteer process.
- Making UNbagged lunches or holding food donation drives do not require attending an orientation or filling out a volunteer application, however they do require steps to participate as outlines on the volunteer page.
Already A Certified Volunteer?
If you have completed all the steps to volunteer at The Light House, including watching our new Volunteer Orientation Video above, you will be able to login to our Volunteer Information Center (VIC), where you can sign up for one many Light House volunteer opportunities, update your profile, and track your hours.
