The Light House Homeless Prevention Support Center has been awarded a $2,000 grant from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to help feed neighbors in their time of need. This grant will provide much needed support by directly funding The Light House Pantry Program’s hunger relief efforts.
For over 30 years, The Light House has provided vital basic needs services to the individuals and families in the community who are struggling with homelessness and food insecurity. Their staff and volunteers serve over 100 community members daily by providing food, shelter, case management, housing and diversion support, clothing, showers, laundry, and more.
“In recent years, our programs have been more important than ever as we have seen a dramatic increase in neighbors seeking our services,” stated Light House Director of Community Engagement Sarah E. Ryan. “Our food programs are no exception, and we are doing all we can to provide healthy pantry items and meals to those in need. We are so grateful for the continued support from our friends at the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation, and these funds will help us reach even more of our neighbors struggling to make ends meet.”
Each week, The Light House distributes over 3,500 pounds of perishable and non-perishable food to individuals and families in Anne Arundel County. Last year alone, they also served over 82,000 meals and provided shelter, clothing, case management, and other vital homelessness prevention and support services to thousands of community members in need.
