Thank You to The Home Builders Care Foundation!
February 14th, 2022
A big thank you to The Home Builders Care Foundation, Inc. and to Southern Maryland Heating & Air, Inc. for being a light for our neighbors struggling with homelessness!
As part of our housing programs, The Light House owns and operates five transitional housing properties throughout Annapolis for individuals and families coming out of our Light House Residential Program. Keeping these spaces well maintained is a vital part of creating a place of belonging and hope for our neighbors struggling with the trauma of homelessness. This upkeep is no small task and we could not do it without the love and support from our community.
Recently, the HVAC system in our Willow House transitional housing property was in the beginning stages of breaking down. This five bedroom property provides supportive housing for up to five women and it is important that they have proper heating and cooling in their living spaces.
We are deeply grateful to The Home Builders Care Foundation (HBCF), the official charity of the Maryland Building Industry Association, for generously taking this project on from start to finish. Knowing that we had experts that were willing to step in was a great relief. They helped assess the need and donated the labor, equipment, and brand new system. With their support a new two-zone whole house energy efficient HVAC system was installed in Willow house last week!
We would also like to thank HBCF’s partners Southern Maryland Heating & Air, Inc. for contributing their expertise to this project as well! This was a huge help and will keep our Willow house spaces comfortable for our residents for years to come! Thank you HBCF for making this happen! This is what neighbors helping neighbors looks like.
