Brightview communities of Anne Arundel County Pot-to-Pot Fundraising Cook-off
July 14, 2023
On June 21, the four Brightview communities of Anne Arundel County went “pot-to-pot” in a fundraising cook-off for The Light House.
Hosted by Brightview Crofton Riverwalk, chefs from Brightview Crofton Riverwalk, Brightview Severna Park, Brightview Annapolis, and Brightview South River interpreted the theme of Maryland Classic Dishes for this culinary showdown. Over 100 guests attended the event to taste the dishes and see who the three guest judges crowned as the winning chef!
The event raised $1,238 for The Light House’s mission to prevent homelessness and empower people as they transition toward employment, housing, and self-sufficiency. Brightview Severna Park’s Executive Chef Maria Evans has volunteered with The Light House’s culinary program to share her knowledge and expertise with those aspiring to work and grow in the culinary field. Restaurant-style dining is a hallmark of Brightview’s vibrant senior living communities, and this cook-off allowed Brightview chefs to showcase their talents!
Brightview Crofton Riverwalk’s Chef Kristopher Cheney took home the victory with his Gremolata Fried Oyster Sliders and Garlic Seared Rockfish served with a Lemon Beurre Blanc drizzle over crab risotto garnished with a corn & fennel relish. Oysters are a specialty of Chef Kris – he won first place in the Annapolis Maritime Museum Oyster Roast in 2018.
Guest judges were Brightview Regional Vice President of Operations Eileen Adams, Friends of The Light House Executive Director Nikki Trevey, and the Commodore of the Kent Island Yacht Club Jeff Smith.
The rest of the menu was similarly mouth-watering:
Brightview Severna Park
- Spice Rubbed Beef Tenderloin cooked sous vide and charred over oak and cherry wood, shaved thin, and served on brioche with shaved white onion and horseradish cream
- Coconut Parfait – soft white cake layered with coconut cream, vanilla buttercream, and toasted coconut in a champagne flute
Brightview Annapolis
- Crab Ravioli served with a Maryland corn sauce
- Strawberry Mascarpone Trifle
Brightview South River
- Classic Maryland Cream of Crab Soup
- Shrimp Tartlets
