PUBLIC NOTICE: The Light House has been awarded CDBG funds to perform upgrades to the access control system and other select security measures to the building located at 10 Hudson Street Annapolis and is soliciting for prospective respondents until March 26th.

The Light House is excited to announce that we were awarded a $1 million gift from a donor who wishes to remain anonymous. This much needed funding directly supports our Light House mission to rebuild lives with compassion by providing shelter and services to prevent homelessness and empower people as they transition toward housing, employment, and self-sufficiency.
Staff members setting up for The Light House drive-through and walk-up pantry. In 2020 alone, The Light House distributed over 305,000 pounds of food to neighbors struggling with homelessness and food insecurity.
The $1 million gift was secured through a local foundation that believes in our mission and wanted to make a lasting and positive impact in our community. This funding will enable our organization to provide more safe and affordable housing for those struggling with homelessness, additional services that stop homelessness before it happens, new programming to address mental health and substance abuse issues, a well-stocked and staffed food pantry, and new opportunities to bolster our workforce development programs.
Since the Covid-19 crisis began, The Light House has seen an unprecedented increase in those seeking our services. Last year, we served 40% more individuals and families than a typical year, and the number of households served through our pantry programs alone increased by more than 200%. The Light House is committed to serving as many vulnerable individuals and families as we possibly can, and this generous gift will help increase our reach and impact at one of the most critical times in our organization’s history.

This funding secures our future and ensures that families are housed and safe, healthy food and basic needs items are distributed to our most vulnerable neighbors, individuals have the job skills and training they need to earn a living wage, and The Light House is strong and prepared to help our community continue to weather this crisis. I can never thank this foundation and the local trustee enough for being an enthusiastic advocate for those who need it most.”
Since the start of the Covid-19 crisis, Light House Bistro staff have stepped in to support the entirety of The Light House food insecure operations—feeding residents, community clients, and managing pantry distribution, which also allowed us to continue to provide training opportunities despite the restaurant closure.
As The Light House begins to transition back to normal operations, we are excited to announce that Light House Bistro will be reopening our doors and plan on welcoming customers back in spring! As always, the safety of our staff and guests is of the utmost importance to us and we have been diligently developing and assessing our operations and guidelines to ensure the health and well-being of all who come through our doors.
